The pan on the stove is full of boiling water. I would be crazy to dip my finger into it! On the other hand, if I dip my finger into a pot of warm water and keep it there until it starts boiling, this is much easier on the body. Why am I talking about putting my finger into hot water?
The same reason I wonder why people accept TV today and its deteriorating morality. Like the finger in the warm water that is slowly getting hot, so too, morals on TV have been consistently disappearing. As a society, we are gradually accepting life in a godless world. Starting in the 70’s, shows on TV began to accept the normal reality of people wearing less and less and having meaningless conversations and jokes that were degrading. I’m talking about shows like Three’s Company and The Beverly Hillbillies, to name a couple. Hollywood continued producing shows that degraded entire families. More recent examples are Baywatch, Family Guy, and The Simpsons. This immoral trend continued along with movies and the World Wide Web. The trend to have a godless world is on the rise.
Remember The Waltons? This was a good, wholesome family show that taught life lessons through its stories of love and caring for each other. It was about a down-to-earth, hard-working family who were happy with the little things in life. What is happening to our families today because of these shows, movies, and the Internet? Our kids can’t go to school without having a computer; therefore, they have access to all the dangers on the World Wide Web. Don’t get me wrong, the Internet is a fantastic invention and contains lots of great information about every subject. But it can be a dangerous place for young minds. Social Media sharing has accelerated the pace of this virtual snowball down the hill of immorality and has been a huge influence on our youth. The scary thing is that it has become the normal way of living.
Now across the world, abortion is acceptable. Gay “marriage” is being accepted by more and more countries. This is exactly what the devil wants us to believe. Killing and gay living is against God’s plans for life! He said be fruitful and multiply.
I have not owned a TV for 12 years now, and I can honestly say that I don’t miss it at all. I have more free time for family, which should be the most important thing in our lives.
This evil trend, like a snowball, is going to have to come to the bottom of the hill and stop. I wonder when and what will be the consequence for our society?
