“Hello Jesus? Are you there? What, I cannot hear you. Please repeat that?”
Or sometimes we talk with God this way:
We are sitting in our usual place, reading our routine list of prayers. Then someone opens the door. And you say
“Our Father who is in heaven… Shut the door!… hallowed is thy name…”
Some say prayer is like a conversation with Jesus. But prayer goes much deeper than that. According to Siri on my iPhone, a conversation is the informal exchange of ideas by spoken words. If that is true, how do the deaf or paraplegic speak to God in prayer? Not with exchanging words but with their heart. Prayer is an exchange of love with or without words. Do we really need to pray if God already knows what we need? Prayer is starting with an open heart, a heart that is peaceful and free of any anger or unforgiveness. We can start with our heart in a peaceful place, a place of little or no distractions.
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:6
We are aware of our hearts. Yes, the heart that someone can hurt. It is not our heart that pumps blood but our very soul. We begin with realizing who we are about to communicate with, God or Jesus, the Holy of Holies, our Jesus who loves us so much, who gave His life for our eternity. God said to Moses “I AM who AM” in the Book of Exodus. His name is the most Holy. This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations. Exodus 3:15
This is not the only way to pray, but this is how I do it. Start prayer by:
1 Adore Jesus and praise Him. For it is written, As I live, saithe the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Romans 14:11
2 Thank Him for all the blessings He has and is giving to us. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2
3 Ask Jesus for what we need Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24
When we pray, we are thinking of the words in the prayers. When we are saying regular prayers, we feel every word we say in our soul and mean it. Prayer could be as long or as short as you want, informal or formal words or no words. How do we get to know someone? By spending as much time as we can with them. Getting to know everything about that person. Same with Jesus. He wants to share everything in everyday with you. He already knows who we are. Now He desperately wants you to learn and love who He is. Share with Him. When you are happy or sad, lonely or with friends. Do we need to pray? The answer is Yes! Not wanting to pray is like not wanting to eat. The body needs food every day just like the soul needs love every day. The soul needs a spiritual connection with Jesus. Without Him our faith will die.
Jesus gave you 24 hours a day, how many hours do you think of Him?
